Meiling Shih, Ph.D., Vice President

Meiling Shih has 15 years of international research experience and is an expert in conducting multi-country projects. Meiling is Vice President and manages the Morpace International team.

Managing the International team also includes roles such as vendor screening and selection in foreign markets, research design and implementation, analysis and reporting with local market insights. Meiling regularly conducts qualitative research projects in Asia and South America.       

She has worked closely with a variety of clients in areas of marketing and brand strategies, product development, customer services, public relations, and advertising agencies.  Her experience has encompassed a wide variety of both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies including telephone, Internet, focus group, and intercept studies among consumers, retail personnel, and businesses.      

Meiling is fluent in Mandarin , Taiwanese, and Japanese, and possesses unique insights of Asian/Pacific market dynamics.  She presented several conference papers, including a case study on Asia’s regional satellite service to the International Communication Association (ICA).

TanChris Tan, Associate Director

As Associate Director in the Morpace Asia-Pacific office, Chris graduated with a Business Degree in Marketing and has displayed a variety of skills during his career in market research, including time spent as an interviewer, field supervisor, quality control and Data Management & Processing officer and more.

Since 2003, Chris has conducted research and serviced clients throughout the Southeast Asia region, throughout China and India, and as far away as Mongolia. He has significant experience and vast knowledge of project management and has spent much of the past five years specializing in automotive-related projects while becoming well versed in various research methodologies implementation and qualitative moderation. Chris’ wealth of knowledge in sectors such as automotive, technology, and retail/consumer goods specializing in wines and spirits, and tobacco, has been a valuable asset to his clients. He also provides a prominent understanding of the Asian and Chinese cultures.

Chris is multi-linguistic and he is fluent in five different languages including Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien, Bahasa Malaysia and English. Together with his common-sense perspective and sound practical judgment, Chris has evolved into a prominent marketer.

Being an avid electronic gadget aficionado and big-time coffee lover, Chris also enjoys traveling and exploring cultures as well as habitats that supplement him with new knowledge and perspective in life.
